Large and Complex Technical Claims Lead – Household

We are delighted to be recruiting for a Large and Complex Technical Claims Lead on behalf of our client, a very highly regarded and well respected insurer with an excellent reputation in the market.

Working within the Technical Claims – Home department, the key purpose of the role is to lead a team of Major & Complex Loss Consultants and Handlers, as well as leading the Subsidence Team Leader and Handlers. You will also handle a portfolio of the highest value / complex claims, ensuring that cases are dealt with quickly, efficiently and economically.

You will be responsible for maintaining the technical integrity of claims handling within the Household Large Loss and Subsidence teams, whilst also providing technical and tactical advice.

Highly flexible hybrid working is an option for this position, including 1-2 days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that Claims are handled quickly, efficiently and economically.
  • Creating a working environment through which your teams are able to develop their technical skills and provide a quality service which meets the needs of the customer.
  • Providing guidance, motivation and direction to all members of your teams and organising appropriate training for team members to ensure skills are optimised.
  • Closely managing Household Large Loss claims, ensuring that they are reported to Reinsurers / internally, in accordance with reporting requirements.
  • Ensuring that you and your teams assist in the development of Claims Handlers from outside of Household Large Loss claims, managing and overseeing the mentoring of selected claims staff.
  • Working closely with the Counter Fraud team, ensuring that exposure to fraud is closely monitored, and that detection and counter-fraud response is as effective as possible.
  • Assisting the management team with the management of suppliers, gathering and utilising MI, and the implementation of new processes and controls.
  • Providing input to the Underwriting, Actuarial, Compliance and Change teams, in order to inform processes, provide certainty or guidance on internal discussions concerning Large Loss across all Household product lines.

Key Requirements

  • Extensive experience within Household Claims, including large loss experience on claims with values in excess of £500,000.
  • Proven strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Exceptional technical expertise and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction / consultation.
  • A full understanding of the key drivers of claims cost containment and service provision.

Salary – Up to £60,000 + Bonus + Benefits
